Athletes to Watch

The competition features a mix of regional qualifiers and high-profile wildcards:

  • Bella Kenworthy (USA): Fresh off a strong rookie season on the Championship Tour, the Californian is a heavy favorite. Her experience at similar breaks like Lower Trestles gives her a technical edge on La Union’s long walls.
  • Lukas Skinner (GBR): After bouncing back from a serious leg injury, the 17-year-old British sensation is making his debut at this event. Known for his explosive style, Skinner is eager to prove himself on the world’s biggest junior stage.
  • Laura Raupp (BRA): Currently a standout on the Challenger Series, Raupp is looking to continue Brazil’s winning streak following Luana Silva’s 2024 victory. Her powerful forehand surfing makes her a top contender.
  • The Home Favorites: The Philippines is well-represented by four local wildcards, including Siargao-based siblings Troy and Toby Espejon, along with Mara Lopez and Cathleya Casals.
